Hard Times for Huskies...............
Hard times have fallen on everyone, well, just about everyone.
Nikita was resting comfortabley this
morning, thank heaven.
On the other side of the bed, she has her grandparent purchased, L.L. Bean, sage colored, thickly padded mattress - but she chose this.
Can't say I blame her.
Sweet dreams little husky.

Political Commentary......... from the last economic bubble.
Real World
Susan Lowery - 1999
I know there's a place for me
Outside this corporate realm
Tired of being a figurine
All that can go straight to hell
Dinner dates, terms and rates
Policies on the line
Holdin' it in
No matter how grim
I've got better things to do with time
I'm talkin' 'bout a real world
Talkin' 'bout a real, real, real, real, world
Looking for truth and solutions
Cures to false pride and pollution
Bodies containing minds that relate, using technology - minus the hate
Procrastination, manipulation - sad, sad tools of the trade
Stop talking - start walkin'
It's time to infiltrate
I'm talkin' 'bout a real world
Talkin' 'bout a real, real, real, real, world
A place of love
A place of integrity
Learning to live more passionately
Talkin' 'bout a real, real, real, real, world
Old boys nations, leaving us nothing but constipation
Well meaning swelled up buffoons
Politics clear as cartoons!
Cut the fat, that's just that,
Let's everyone tow the line
Cut the fat, that's just that,
Or leave 'em all behind

Friday's Glorious Sunrise
The rise was even more glorious - reds, oranges, fushias - on the other side of the house but I didn't get to capture it, I simply enjoyed it.

Desert Love Song
Desert Lament
Susan Lowery 9/28/2008
Dove, dove bird of love
Wing across the desert sky
Dove, dove bird of love, bring my lover’s breath to me
Dove, dove bird of love, bring my lover back to me
Raven flying high
Sly one of the seabed dry
Raven flying high
Crossing worlds by day and night
Coyote trick my eyes
Feed me stories, (filled with) feed me lies
Coyote trick my eyes
Make me love and make me cry

"The Pit......................."
Well, here it is - "The Pit." And, it's finally burned!!!!!! Yahoo!!! Mom Lowery and I dug this pit last October.
It's been filled and emptied many times, but not burned. Today was the maiden burning.
I think its about 6 feet across and 2 feet deep.
How appropriate, Dan and I are both Aries - fire signs. It was a great project to work on together.
"Ummmmmm, fire good!"Monday, September 1, 2008

Photos From the Yard & Area Surrounding El Morro, NM
We spent the day searching out he Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. While in the gift store i was overcome by emotion due to the 75 wolves singing and howling. I cried. I can't really explain the experience. It just felt like I was "home...." The proceeds from everything sold in the store if not in full, is in part, devoted to the wolves and to their care at the sanctuary. It was an incredible experience and both Dan and I can't wait to go back and spend the day with the wolves communing and crooning. This is Dan's photo.
On our much needed jaunt yesterday - Saturday, we also went to see El Morro. These photos were also taken by Dan. We went to another little town called Ramah, a wonderful and beautiful green pastural environment southwest of us about 150 miles. We attended a Farmers Market there and purchased some incredibly delicious homemade Pita bread, home grown corn-on-the- cob, and oh yeah, home grown cucumbers too! The people were all really friendly and the setting beautiful. It reminded me a little of my home state, Oregon.
Here we have Nikita and our neighbor dog Sandy exchanging greetings one morning before work, this week.
Here is a beautiful wild willow blossom from our backyard. These beautiful trees are the ultimate survivors out here in the desert. They require very little water and proliferate expansively after each rain. They're delicate and a rabbit staple.

After some time..........
Learning to Walk Dirt Roads In The Dark…
Susan Lowery 7/2008
I’m learning to walk dirt roads in the dark
And sense the scent of wild willows
Watching lizards ascent and descend
Over ancient adobe windows (structures)
Standing in awe of sunsets
And rainbows as they grace the sky
Away, is the sparkle of city lights
Over and under the arroyos
Mama thrasher, yellow breasted wren
And, Ms. Prairie falcon
Mr. Tortoise, hummingbird moth
come live with me ‘neath my portillo
Cool, blazing desert
Exonerate my soul
Send my spirit reeling
From the underground to the Cosmos
Wind, wind blow me
Cross the desert floor
To my Shaman’s door step
Where I will learn more
I’m learning to walk dirt roads in the dirt
Trusting my inner sight
Using my inner wisdom
To guide me home safely at night…..

Folders Can Be Fun!!!!
Here's an art folder that I created while substitute teaching at LA High School in Los Angeles.
I pulled it out to assist a "sista" on a project for her students.
This is a great project for kids (& adults) of all ages!

A Busy Morning
We had a wonderful monsoon rain last night, hopefully we'll have another this afternoon and into the evening. It truly brings everything to life. The bees are out, the birds are out, and the plant life is looking well nourished. I'm hoping that the hollyhocks germinate and that more of the veggies come up as well.

AAgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Sometimes Seeing/Painting Can Really Be a Challenge!
What I perceive, preconceived notions and lastly - fantasy.
This is, from left to right: Erica Harrison, Linda Lowery & Tanya Caldwell.
My intention was to turn them into elvish fairies, and I still may - but just getting the basics on canvas with a newer medium (for me) - this time around - has taken ................ fill in the blank.
But, I'm learning - and, learning is usually messy. Most of the time, I like for things to look simple; I don't want people to see that I struggle - this approach to life is simply pride and ego.
So, tah-tah, to pride and ego - at least today!
This is the messiness of learning in Art!!!!!

New Birdies, New Shots of NuNu & The Turtle is Back!
The new kids - they're on top of the front porch light fixture.
He's back!!! He also eat a dead mouse yesterday and left it next to our back door sage plant. Yuck...
This lighting was gorgeous, I couldn't resist taking another picture of "The Nu."
The same lighting situation here - gorgeious, just like Nikki Nu.
It's been hot here, but not as hot and humid as Los Angeles; or many other parts of the country.
I've been very busy although not yet working this summer.
I've planted some veggies and they're actually growing out here in the desert.
A miracle!!!
I've wanted to do a bunch of stuff outside but it's just too hot.
I guess I'll have to finish all of the artistic projects instead!
